Jewellery Care

  • How can I keep my diamond jewellery to look clean?

There are a number of reasons why diamonds can start to look lack-lustre and lose their sparkle and shine. Anything from dust to skin oils can affect the brilliance of the gems. You can clean your diamonds in a number of ways. A detergent and warm water solution, or a cold water and ammonia mix can help to put the gleam back into your diamonds. You can also get professional ultrasonic machines for the cleaning of your jewellery or you can go to a proper jeweller to get it professionally cleaned.

  • How should one take care of the diamond jewellery?

Diamonds can be damaged by impact. Some protection against impact damage is afforded by the prongs of the mount which shield the diamond. There is less protection, and a greater potential for damage, with larger diamonds. We suggest not wearing your diamond ring when engaged in activities where the ring might be hit on hard objects, such as sports or housework.

  • Can diamonds break or chip?

Even though diamonds are extremely hard, they can still be damaged from abuse. Diamonds can scratch each other and all other gemstones, such as sapphires, rubies, emeralds, and pearls. Store your diamonds away from other gems in your jewellery box and don’t wear any valuable gemstones while doing hard work.
